Owning a house on a lot of land is just not practical over here unless you’re super–rich (so I’m going to have to wait a couple of years!). Land prices are so much higher here. The part of England in which I live is amongst the most densely populated parts of Europe.

I’m not sure at the moment that it’d appeal to me, anyway, If I owed anywhere I’d want to own something with a rare, not obvious, beauty (like the Fens), but I wouldn’t want to prevent other people from appreciating it. I think I’d prefer to wander around the country exploring what is available for everyone to enjoy.

Perhaps I’m just too much of a house person!
